(Sunday) Enjoy an international buffet breakfast and check out before starting the day at the Pyramids at Giza, home of the 7th wonder of the world, the Great Pyramid and the inscrutable Sphinx. Staff transfers you to the airport, assists with checking in and you fly to Luxor. Arriving staff transfers you to the Sonesta Luxor Hotel. Overnight Luxor (B)

(Monday) International buffet breakfast, check out, Staff will meet you for transfer to your Deluxe Five Star Nile Cruiser, the M/S Royal Viking or the M/S Amarco. Lunch on board then visit the East Bank of Luxor including the Temple of Luxor and Temple of Karnak. Overnight Luxor (B, L, D)

Driver: 50 cents per person for transfer + $1 for tour

Cruise staff: Many people leave an envelope at the front desk with their cabin number on it at the end of the cruise. Basically we suggest $5 per night, per cabin ($2.50 per person) to cover tips to ships crew. This includes the waiters and maids plus other staff on ship but NOT guide.

Day 04: (Tuesday) Breakfast, then visit the West Bank of Luxor including the Valley of the Kings, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Return to the ship for Lunch while sailing to Esna, cross the river lock, continue sailing to Edfu. Dinner. Overnight Edfu. (B, L, D)

TOTAL Day 04 Tips: About $1 per person
Day 05: (Wednesday) Breakfast followed by a visit to the Temple of Horus in Edfu. After touring return to the ship for lunch while sailing to Kom Ombo. Upon arrival in Kom Ombo visit the Temple of Two Gods. Dinner while sailing to Aswan. Overnight Aswan (B, L, D)
Carriage or bus driver at Edfu: $1 per person

TOTAL Day 05 Tips: About $1 per person
Day 06:
(Thursday) Breakfast then visit the Aswan High Dam, the Granite Quarries with the unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae. Lunch on board then in the afternoon FREE BONUS: Sail on the Nile by Felucca (native sailboat). (Please note that these boats are solely wind powered, if there is no wind this will not operate). Dinner on board. Overnight Aswan (B, L, D)

TOTAL Day 06 Tips: About $1 per person
Day 07: (Friday) Disembark the cruise. Staff will transfer you to the airport and assist with checking in for a flight to Cairo. Arriving, Visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities featuring King Tut’s treasures followed by a visit to the famous Khan el Khalili bazaar where travelers have been finding bargains since the middle ages. Staff will transfer you to the Fairmont Heliopolis hotel. Overnight Cairo (B)
Cruise Tour Guide: $20 per person
Cruise staff: $10 per person or $20 for single cabins for the entire cruise
Baggage handler/disembarking cruise: 50 cents per bag

(Saturday) Staff will transfer you to the airport, assist with exit formalities and checking in for your international departure.

Driver: 50 cents per person
TOTAL Day 08 tips: About $3.00 per person
Please know that the entire tourism industry in Egypt is underpaid and overworked. The average MONTHLY salary for the waiters, bellmen, front desk staff, etc. at hotels and on cruises is $100-$150. This is why everyone is looking for tips.
When you get good service think about rewarding it.
If you don’t get good service then do not tip them anything.
Other costs to expect
bottled water at hotels or on the cruise: $1 to $3 for a small bottle, $2.50-$5 for a large bottle. NOTE: This is filtered water. If you order perrier it will cost more.
coffee or tea: 50 cents
alcoholic drinks:
beer: $3 per bottle
wine: local $4 to $6 per glass. imported will be more $$.
liquor: local $5 per cocktail, imported $8-$15 per cocktail
NON included meals per person (in hotel ala carte restaurants) Lunch $7 to $15, dinner $7 to $20 (think Applebees/Chili’s prices)
Fine dining restaurants would be more.
Buffets: lunch buffet $12-$20, dinner buffet $20-$30
So on a tour of 09 days, similar to the one described above you would probably have:
2 lunches averaging $10 per person ($20)
3 dinners averaging $20 per person ($60)
