MUSEUM OF THE DOMINICAN MAN
Museum of the Dominican Man traces the country's cultural evolution from pre-historic times to the present via a variety of pre-Columbian artifacts, Spanish colonial artifacts and items related to the slave trade.
Set in the beautiful Plaza de la Cultura, this museum has exhibits on the Tamno natives that inhabited the island before the arrival of the Spanish.
Long before Columbus set foot in the Dominican Republic, the island was home to several native tribes, most notably the Taino Indians. This museum preserves portions of that early, rich history and allows visitors to get up close and personal with tribal masks, ceremonial items, and everyday artifacts that survived European colonial expansion.
